6. Preferences
Musashi preferences for each user consists of the following 5 categories.
- Account
- Message
- Color
- Detail
- Module
When a user uses Musashi at first time, Musashi will show a dialog for setting user's preferences automatically. Otherwise, to browse preferences dialog, select Preferences... in Options menu.
6-1. Account
In this section, you can set up servers' addresses, a default signature and so on.
[POP account]
POP account is the statement combined the POP user ID and the POP (incoming) server address. For example, if you have user as POP user ID and musashi.net as POP server, input user@musashi.net as POP account.
[POP password]
The password for logging in to POP server. If you keep this field empty, Musashi will ask you a POP password whenever you try to log in to POP server.
[SMTP server]
The host name of SMTP (outgoing) server.
If you need to port number for POP server or SMTP server in special ocsasion, you can put port number after POP or SMTP statement like user@musashi.net:9001 or smtp.musashi.net:9002.
[E-mail address and your name]
The e-mail address and name for the account. For example, if you set user@musashi.net as e-mail address and Your Name as your name, Musashi adds the following line in message header.
From: Your Name
[Reply-To]
When you set a maill address in Reply-To, Musashi adds Reply-To: line in message header like
Reply-To: user@abc.net
When Reply address is not specified, Musashi doesn't add Reply-To: line.
[Signature]
The default signature for the account. If you set the default signature, Musashi automatically puts the signature at the bottom of messages that you write. You can also change the signature when editing messages.
[Output]
The text encoding. By use of this option, you can send and receive special characters in various languages like Japanese or French.
[Encoding]
You can select encoding for attachments by this option.
[Leave messages on POP server, (Days to leave)]
You can leave messages on server after receiving by these options. For example, it is useful when you need to refer the messages from two or more locations like home and office.
[Check mail at startup]
Musashi will check mail when you start Musashi.
[(Checking interval)]
Musashi will check messages every * minutes.
[Use APOP]
Musashi uses APOP when loggin in the POP server. Note that some servers doesn't support APOP.
[Return-Receipt-To]
Musashi adds
Return-Receipt-To: your@mail.address
in message header.
[Outgoing only]
The account is specified to be only for outgoing.
6-2. Message
[Reply header, Forward header]
Setting the message attached to the beginning of replied and forwarded messages. You can use the following special character sequences.
%N: sender name
%S: message subject
%D: message date
\r: new line
For example, if you specify %N said in %S\rat %D as Reply message, Musashi will insert the following message when replying Test mail from Somebody.
Somebody said in Test mail
at 31/Dec/98
[Quotation]
The character sequence used as a quotation.
[Quote headers]
The headers in original message are also quoted when replying and forwarding.
[Quote sender's name]
The sender's name is added before a quotaion.
In for example, the case of the above-mentioned example
Somebody> Hello.
Somebody> Bye.
[Date format]
Choosing a format for date shown in the list of messages.
[4 digits year]
The year is displayed by 4 digits. If a check is removed, 2 digits will be displayed.
[View day-of-week]
A day of the week is displayed together with a date.
[View-second]
A second is displayed together with a date.
[Convert date]
The date is converted for matching with your time zone.
[Extract attachments automatically]
When documents are attached to the received message, Musashi extract attachments and save automatically into specified directory.
[Text file creator]
The creator when saving message as text file.
6-3. Color
[Message highlight]
The colors for highlighting messages on Message Viewer.
[Quotation highlight]
The highlight colors of quoted part in the message.
6-4. Detail
[Incoming default, Outgoing default]
The default accounts to be used when you use the keyboard shortcut commands to send or receive.
[Send queued messages when checking]
Send queued messages when checking mail.
[(Word wrap)]
The outgoing messages will be word-wrapped with * columns automatically.
[Use In-line conversion]
Use in-line conversion for multi-bytes text input.
[Use MacOS default controls]
Use MacOS standard controls not Musashi's original controls. This is useful when you use Kaleidoscope.
[Close window after sending messages]
After sending message is completed, close Message Editor.
[Show dialog after receiving message]
After receiving message is completed, show the dialog to inform you new messages have been arrived.
[(Dialog timer)]
The dialogs showing warning and errors will close after * seconds automatically with answering yes.
[Print]
Set up printing fonts and style.
[Notify sound]
Select a sound when messages are arrived.
6-5. Module
[Use module window color]
Use window color setting in module. You can not change the window colors.
[Use module message highlight]
Use message highlight color setting in module. You can not change the highlight colors.
[Use module quotation highlight]
Use highlight color setting for quoted part in module. You can not change the highlight colors.
